Fungi in the tropical freshwater aquarium? fin rot?
9 months ago I had a liter of fresh water Tank 10 starters, and got three serpae Tetras (Orange tropical fish) to build the community. Two weeks later we had three fish neon blue algae eater. Gradually add the fish (approximately 9-10 small fish all together, which was perfect for 10 gallons). Then, two months ago, one of the neon is sick and his spine seemed willing it was discolored and had a growth on his lips. He has lived and spent 1-2 months, with six other fish, all slowly, one at a time. They simply disappeared and the pet store said it could be so-called fin rot. We have three fish and algae eater left and seem to be well after the treated water several times with the deadly fungus. Anyone else have this problem? What should I do?
The symptoms you describe resemble Neon Tetra disease. There is no cure for this year and continue to infect your tank. It is often caused by conditions of water low. Fishing can be done other than neon, but they are accustomed. Once syptoms are, it is fatal. The best thing to do is to euthanize fish. Chances are that the tank was full or above are overeating or not to follow the changes of water. You might consider a change of water very large and invest in a very good test kit. Check the parameters of water changes the water often and do 20-30% every week. Their levels of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and ammonia should be 0 0 nitrite and nitrate, not more than 20-30 a water change. Freshwater Aquarium Pharmaceuticals is a test kit very (liquid type of test tube) for about $ 25.00. I will refrain from buying more fish until the tank is within these parameters. Good luck.
