An addition of a snail or two to your tropical aquarium is important. Snails have gastropods with tiny tentacles heads. They help to clean the aquarium as they travel along the gravel on the bottom of the tank eating dead and decaying plants. They are also entertaining to watch.
Snails are hermaphroditic and as such are capable of self reproduction. One day you may have one snail in the tank and the next you could have two. Depending on the snail type some can fertilize their own eggs while others self reproduce in other ways.
You may be able to spot you snail laying eggs as they do this in a gelatinous mass around the base of a rocky or shadowy protected area if the tropical fish aquarium.
